Destination Tucson 2009: The High Chaparral Reunion

An International Event

The 2009 Reunion drew fans from all over the world - Chile, Guatemala, England - and from far flung states. Gathering in Tucson at the original Cannon ranch house set, fans, cast and crew celebrated, reminisced and renewed friendships.

A stellar guest list included:

Henry Darrow, Don Collier, Ted Markland, Rudy Ramos, Kent and Susan McCray, head wrangler Denny Allen, Old Tucson founder Bob Shelton, and a ranch house full of former production members, show extras and other HC folks.

Friday fans and guests enjoyed special one of a kind gift bags from Susan McCray, and a close-knit chat with the guests of honor. Friday evening brought the special Sponsor's Dinner where the stars thanked those whose extra contribution made the Reunion possible.

Saturday's full schedule at Old Tucson Studios included a Reunion at the Ranch, bringing the cast and crew together at the original set where The High Chaparral was filmed. Hundreds of fans streamed through the gates at Old Tucson to welcome High Chaparral back home. There was a private lunch arranged for those who had reserved it with the stars, followed by a panel discussion at the Grand Palace. An open air barbecue at the hotel rounded up the evening.

Sunday morning finalized the High Chaparral memorabilia silent auction, and after breakfast was a photo and autograph session. Afternoon there were more uncut episodes running, with a guided tour of Tucson available for those who wanted to see the area.
